Like most portlanders, I looked up your site to check the hours, and to see if you were open today. Guess what? Posting a sign that says you are not open is akin to a cave painting these days. You have a web site here, so use it, and quit wasting you customers time. I guess we will go to P's City of books today, and for a long time to come.

Hi, I am wondering if you have Ordinary Wolves by Seth Kantner? I would like a paperback.

I am so glad you are in the neighborhood.

best regards, Karen

What a great bookstore. Warm, personal and every book seems like it was selected with intelligence. Thanks for transforming the space. MM

I went to your website to check on booksigning this weekend and couldn't find any information. I know it's probably a drag to keep things updated, but honestly, that is where people look for things these days ... Please find someone who can help you have an updated (at least weekly?/monthly?) website where folks can figure out the good stuff

This is a response to the kind folk who have commented above:

Please keep in mind that is not our website. A third party kindly added us to the site because she liked our shop, and picked up the copy from a bookstore directory. Unfortunately, we can't receive stock queries or change the information here.

As for an actual St. Johns Booksellers website, it is in the works, but will be costly to mount in a way that allows for online shopping, easy updates and so forth ($350 to start, then $225 a month--out of my range just now). We are a very tiny business started with a microloan from Mercy Corps, so there is some growing yet to do before that's possible. In the meantime, please e-mail if you would like to be added to the store's list. You will receive e-mails with upcoming events and book recommendations. You can also place orders, inquire about titles, or arrange for any of our other services through e-mail--until the blessed day comes when we do have a real website!

Looking forward to hearing from you,
