Changes on MLK Jr Blvd

Wildfire is changing its name
Wildfire Wood Fired Pizza & BBQ (3925 NE Martin Luther King Blvd. (503) 546-3111) is going through some changes, that's for sure. Their web site claims that their new name will be Good Smoke Wood Fire Pizza & BBQ. Go to the building, however, and check out their new sign: Carboni's. According to the note on the door, they will no longer be serving BBQ, but instead will offer pastas. The web site, naturally, says nothing about pasta.

Horn of Africa is relocating to 5237 NE Martin Luther King Blvd, in the Vanport Square Plaza. The grand opening will be sometime in the future, probably the end of February or beginning of March.

A new Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant will be moving into Horn of Africa's old spot at 3939 NE MLK Blvd.... conveniently located nextdoor to that pizza joint that can't figure out its name.

Wayne's Chicago Red Hots (3901 NE Martin Luther King) did not make their MLK Day opening, thanks to red tape, but they are hoping to open March 1. The inside is pretty rough right now, but at least work has begun. It can't open soon enough for us. Vienna Beef!

Terroir is still open. As is Subway and Popeyes...

Hopefully the changes aren't limited to the name!

Was just surfing the net & noticed the update. Sorry you feel that we are unable to bring a positive new change to the neighborhood. We were forced to legally change our name by the multi-million dollar company called Lettuce Entertain You. Lots of lawyers & paperwork. Other changes coming are 16" pizzas that are more family friendly & fresh in house hand made to order pastas.

Thanks for your comment. I was mostly frustrated with the conflicting information between your door and your web site. More folks are likely to see the web site, so it would be good to bring that up to date.

Folks in the neighborhood are really looking for a decent place to get a meal close by. I'd love to see Carboni's be that place. Having multiple pizza sizes is a step in the right direction, as would be improving your ingredients for the pizzas. Nobody is expecting Apizza Scholls from you, but if your menu says you're using the best ingredients, then that's what they should be.

And I feel for you with the name change. Whenever lawyers are involved, it's expensive.

Thanks for your comments guys. We do try to use only the best ingredients such as Grana, Grande, & organic greens & tomatoes which sometimes are not perfect. The meats, cheese, & truffle oil are all from Provista or made in house from free range pork. Web site dude says he's workin' on it, but is super busy. We hand make our dough using no machines & from cultures only. People say everyday that our pizza is better then Apizza. It's objective. People tell us they actually have dreams of our pies. If you have not eaten our pies in the last couple of weeks, you have not eaten at Carboni's. Come on in and try our new crust that has amazing tang & depth to it. Then let us know what you think. I am back after a 9 weeks of being bed ridden with serious illness & look forward to seeing you. I was saddened to see the inconsistencies in my abscence and had hope to win you back as I do feel I have one of the best pizzas in PDX.

So that still doesn't exactly address the name change. On the main page of the website it says Cabroni's but on the menu page it still says Wildfire and and has the same old menu. I'd think if you were trying to avoid problems with some big corporation and are interested in promoting your business, you'd change that a.s.a.p.. That last comment was left over a month ago and there's still no change. Also there's still info out there about Good Smoke is this another business entirely? I'm just saying this is all very confusing and probably not helping your business at all. So many people use the internet to decide where to eat these days.

I've been looking forward to trying Carboni's. I stopped a couple months back and could have sworn there was pasta on the menu, yet tonight there was none to be found. It was disappointing to say the least. Besides my pizzas being burned (yes, the menu warns about "carmelization, but this was over-cooked), the server was either on coke or had a terrible cold...either of which, she shouldn't have been there. Her attitude sucked and she could not have been less accommodating or less friendly. She left without saying boo to us halfway through our meal and then after we finished the guy that cooked our pizzas came by and said that she had a "family emergency". Seemed quite the contrary. Was excited they were two blocks from my house, now disappointed and won't return.
