Going to... Portland, Ore.

travel2.nytimes.com/2005/11/06/travel/06going.html

I'm a sucker for articles about visiting PDX, so I wasted no time checking out this article (11/6/2005) by Christopher Solomon for the New York Times. First of all, there are some gorgeous pictures of our town, perfect for selling that certain someone into making the journey.

Just in case you want the high points, here they are: Stay at Jupiter if you're young and hipster, Lucia if you're arty and urban, or the Governor (because you're worth it). Eat at Paley's, Gotham Tavern, or Lauro. Go to the Oregon Historical Society and the Portland Art Museum, Doug Fir, Voodoo Doughnut, and Lucky Lab. Shop at Seaplane, Office, and Tropical Salvage. Stop by Jamison Square, Powell's Books, the Fireside Coffee Lounge, and get around using Trimet.
