Let me begin with the proverbial grain of salt. I need to go back.

We had heard great things about the food and the jukebox, and bad things about the smokeyness. When we went in the other night, we were the first folks to sit at a table. They have a few beers on tap, including Laguinitas. And yes, there were smokers sitting at the bar. The music was great, the food less so. We each got the Slowburger, a 1/2 painted-hills burger cooked to order, topped with gruyere cheese and pancetta. The bun was decent, and it is served with either salad or fries--french or sweet. Both were almost steak fries sized. The sweet potatoes tasted more sweet potatoey than most I've tried in town, but the french fries were soggy and disgusting. The burger was okay, but a little overwhelming. At $8.50, it's not cheap. Truth be told, I prefer my burgers a little smaller—more like a 1/3 of a pound, or less. There was also some secret ingredient—a relish or chopped onions—which really made me unhappy. All in all, not bad, but nothing I need to do again.
